2017-2018 Central Region Venturing Area 7 President - Kevin TroyKevin Troy was selected as the Central Region Venturing Area 7 2017-2018 Venturing President. His term will begin June 1, 2017 and continue through May 31, 2018.
Kevin is from Pathway to Adventure Council and is a resident of Lemont, IL. He is a member of Crew 0049 chartered out of Lemont United Methodist Church. He is currently finishing his freshmen year at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where he is majoring in Stage Management for theater.
Kevin is an Eagle Scout and has earned 72 merit badges offered by the Boy Scouts of America. He joined the scouting program at the age of 7 with Pack 149. He has served as activities chair for Pachsegink Lodge and is a Vigil member in the Order of the Arrow. He has earned the Founders Award, Arrow of Light, National Outdoor Award, 1 NOVA Award and the Venturing Award. He is also a recipient of the Triple Crown Award.
Kevin is currently serving in the role of Area 7 Venturing Vice-President of Communication for the 2016-2017 term. During this past term, he had a very active social media presence for the Area, creating many new accounts, as well as staying up to date on upcoming events and informing the Venturers of Area 7.
He has attended NYLT, NLS, Venturing BLAST! at Philmont Training Center and has staffed Pathway to Adventure camps Mach-Kin-O-Siew and Shin-Go-Beek. Kevin has also taken ILSC. This summer, Kevin will be working as the Assistant Aquatics Director at the Summit Bechtel Reserve in West Virginia.
Outside of Venturing, Kevin served as a theater tech at his high school, was a member of the National Honor Society, National English Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta (National Math Honor Society).
In his spare time, Kevin likes to build Lego’s and be outside as much as he can!
Kevin’s goals for his term as President is to have all 8 Councils within the Area have an established Council VOA. He wants to make sure that there is communication between all Councils to help grow the Venturing program and gain membership, as well as continue to improve and keep a strong social media presence. In addition to running the 2 events the Area puts on each year, he hopes to create a 3rd event created for training Council VOA members.
