Venturing Youth Protection On-Line

The National Council now offers Venturing Youth Protection Training on-line at the BSA Online Learning Center (http://olc.scouting.org). This is different from the Youth Protection Training for Cub Scout and Boy Scout adult volunteers.

As a Venturing Advisor, you are an important figure in the lives of your crew members. They are likely to turn to you for advice and guidance, or to tell you about problems they face in their lives. They may come to you about their problems before they talk to their parents about them.

The on-line training will be recognized by the local council and will be marked on the training record. The course takes about 30 minutes and includes audio, video, and interactive presentations. The local council should be identified to take the course.

Venturing Advisors and Sea Scout Skippers should also recognize that is is important to view the Venturing Youth Protection video "Personal Safety Awareness" in addition with their Crew. A four page handout on Venturing Youth Protection guidelines is available below.
