Good Turn For America

February 2004 marked the debut of the BSA's Good Turn for America initiate. This program encourages units to make an impact in the community through service to address the issues of hunger, homelessness, and poor health in our nation. Specifically, in this effort, the Boy Scouts of America is partnering with some of the nation's most respected service organizations, including The Salvation Army and Habitat for Humanity. These organizations, and thousands of others, will work to provide opportunities for youth and volunteers to fight hunger and homelessness, and teach the habits of healthy living.

Units that report their project results on the Web site can obtain a Good Turn for America patch and year segment for everyone who worked on the project. After entering the information, a certificate for patches and segments can be printed. By presenting the certificate at the local Scout shop, units may purchase the appropriate number of patches and segments.

Good Turn for America is a national call to service by the BSA to address the issues of hunger, inadequate shelter, and poor health in our nation. In this effort, we have joined with some of the nation's most respected service organizations, including The Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity, and American Red Cross. These organizations and thousands of others will work to provide opportunities for youth and volunteers to make a difference in the lives of others.
