Central Region Venturing Vice Presidents for 2020-2021Please welcome the Central Region Venturing Vice Presidents for 2020-2021:
Miciah Thacker, VP-Administration
Maggie Pennington, VP-Program
Madeleine Snella, VP-Communication
Miciah, Maggie and Madeleine will be responsible for working closely with
Their term of office will begin on June 1, 2020.
Miciah Thacker will serve as the Central Region Venturing Vice President of Administration for the 2020-2021 term.
Miciah previously served as the Central Region VOA Area 6 President. Miciah has been involved in Venturing for nearly five years. She is from Dan Beard Council in Cincinnati, Ohio, where she has served on NYLT staff for three years. She has also been involved in the region as the Area 6 Venturing president for the last two years. Miciah is currently working on her Summit project as well as working towards her Eagle Scout Award. She has earned the Area Venturing Leadership Award and was a guest speaker at VenturingFest 2018.
In 2017 she was selected as the winner of BSA and the Pulitzer Center’s Out of Eden Walk Essay Competition. As such, she travelled to India and walked with Paul Salopek, a National Geographic fellow and Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist who is walking around the world. Her hobbies include binge-watching Netflix, joining too many book clubs to count, and planting trees. Miciah’s goals include developing resources for VOAs and crews, redesigning the Region PIVOT course, and increasing and supporting council VOAs.
Maggie Pennington is the Central Region Venturing Vice President of Program for 2020-2021 term.
Maggie is from the Greater St. Louis Area Council and joined Venturing as soon as she completed the 8th grade. From completing a Philmont Rayado trek to sitting around a fire and singing songs, she loves everything that Scouting has to offer. Maggie is currently the Scoutfest 2020 Maritime Youth Lead and Junior Assistant Scoutmaster for a troop. She has completed NYLT, NAYLE, Kodiak Challenge, Powder Horn, and is returning for her second summer on NAYLE staff at Philmont.
Maggie is currently working on becoming an Eagle Scout and has earned the Venturing Summit Award. One of her favorite activities in Scouting is backpacking at Philmont and getting to know people from across the nation. Maggie is looking forward to helping expand the Central Region Venturing program through having multi-area events, creating program resources for the Areas, and helping out the Central Region VOA.
Madeleine Snella will serve as 2020-2021 Central Region Venturing Vice President of Communications.
Madeleine is from Elmhurst, Illinois. She is also an Assistant Scoutmaster for two troops, a Police Explorer, and a member of Lowaneu Allanque Lodge. Additionally, she serves as the Director of Ecology and Conservation and as a Chaplain’s Aide for Camp Long Lake. Madeleine also served as the 2018-2019 VOA President for Three Fires Council.
During this term, her goals are to engage more Venturers on social media through regular posting, help provide Areas with tools to improve their communications, and improve the Central Region website. Madeleine is a student at Calvin University in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where she is majoring in Environmental Studies. In her free time, Madeleine loves to hike and camp whenever possible, and go on adventures with friends. Some of her hobbies are writing, gardening, photography, and going to the gym.
