Central Region Venturing Vice Presidents for 2012-2013

Please welcome the Central Region Venturing Vice Presidents for 2012-2013:
Ian Ridgeway - Vice President of Communication
Thomas Spargo- Vice President of Program
Christina Vogt - Vice President of Administration

Ian, Thomas, and Christina will be responsible for working closely with 2012-13 Central Region President Elizabeth Wisman
in the completion of her goals for the upcoming year.

Their term of office will begin on June 1, 2012.


Ian RidgewayIan Ridgeway, from Dan Beard Council in Cincinnati, OH, has been selected as the 2012-2013 Central Region Venturing Vice President of Communication starting June 1, 2012.

Ian lives in Tipp City, Ohio. Currently a sophomore at Shawnee State University, Ian is pursuing a degree in Sociology.

Ian has been involved in Venturing for five years. During this time, he has served as President and Vice President of Program for Crew 742, Council VOA member-at-large, and is currently completing his term as the Area 6 Venturing Vice President of Communication. Ian has completed VLSC, ILSC, NYLT, and NAYLE. He has been on his Council’s NYLT staff since 2007, serving on seven courses. He has also served on NAYLE Staff since 2010, and was most recently the Senior Crew Leader for the 2011 Central Region NAYLE course. In 2012, he will continue working with the Central Region NAYLE course.

Ian has earned his Outdoor Bronze Award, Venturing Gold Award, Venturing Silver Award, and Ranger Award. He has been in Scouting for thirteen years. He is a Vigil honor member of the Order of the Arrow and is an Eagle Scout.

As Central Region Venturing Vice President of Communication, Ian hopes to improve upon existing communications in the Region. He also hopes to assist the Area VOAs in opening communications channels with Council VOAs. Ian looks forward to an amazing year for Central Region Venturing.


Thomas SpargoPlease welcome Thomas Spargo as the 2012 - 2013 Central Region Venturing Vice President of Program. Thomas is from Northern Star Council in the Twin Cities area. His term begins on June 1, 2012.

Thomas has served as Crew 750 President, Northern Star Council Venturing President, Area 1 Venturing Vice President of Program, Area 1 Venturing President, and is finishing his term as Central Region Venturing Vice President of Communication. He has earned the Arts and Hobbies Bronze, Venturing Gold Award, and has been awarded the Council and Region Venturing Leadership Award as well as the Northern Star Council Envision Award.

Thomas has been in the Scouting program since he was a Cub Scout. He is also a Brotherhood member of Order of the Arrow and is an Eagle Scout.

Thomas enjoys playing guitar and piano, and is a private guitar teacher. He has lots of experience in planning events. As Area 1 Venturing President, he planned the Area 1 Conference in Bloomington, home of the Mall of America, and the Area 1 Venturing Fun Event in the Wisconsin Dells. Outside of Scouting, he is also on the board of the Nordic Heritage Club and helps plan an annual Nordic Music Festival. This fall, Thomas will go to college and is planning on majoring in General Business and Entrepreneurship.

Thomas would like to support the Area’s programs and events by maintaining regular communication. In the Region, he would like to improve upon the annual Regional Venturing Planning Conference and to investigate and lead the first Central Region Venturing Fun Event. Thomas is excited to meet new people and get new experiences from his upcoming term.


Christina VogtPlease welcome Christina Vogt as the 2012-2013 Central Region Venturing Vice President of Administration. Christina is from the Greater St. Louis Area Council (GSLAC) and lives in Ballwin, MO. Her term begins on June 1, 2012. She is currently a junior at Marquette High School in Chesterfield, MO. After high school, Christina plans to attend either Truman University or Lindenwood University with a major in Business and Non-profit Administration.

Christina is finishing her term as Area 3 Venturing President, and is also the GSLAC Vice President of Administration. She has served as President of Venturing Crew 2783, and New Horizons District Venturing President. She has earned the Outdoor, Religious Life, and Sports Bronze Awards; the Venturing Gold, Silver, and Ranger Awards. She has completed all 4 levels of the P.R.A.Y. Religious Emblem Award Program. She is also currently working on her Girl Scout Gold Award. She has completed VLSC, ILSC, Kodiak, Kodiak X, and NYLT.

Christina is a recipient of the Council and Area Venturing Leadership Awards. This past fall she was inducted into Scouting’s National Youth Leadership Society becoming only the 35th Scout in the nation to be inducted into the society since its founding in 2009. Christina served as a co-trek leader for her Crew’s trek to Philmont when she was 14. She helped staff the centennial Scout Quest 100 in St. Louis, and the National Venturing Event in 2010. She has been selected to sing the National Anthem at the opening of the BSA National Meetings in Orlando, FL in late May.

In high school, Christina is involved in the Show Choir, is a cellist in the school orchestra, served as the goalie for the soccer team, serves as a mentor for middle school students, and is a member of the National Honor Society.

Christina’s goals for this year include helping all of the Area VOAs develop their Operating Procedures to further develop the VOA structure within the Central Region at the area level. She also plans to help councils by developing a resource packet of helpful hints, training materials, and other resources designed to help VOA’s flourish.
