Whitney M Young Award

The Whitney M. Young award is presented to adult Scouters in recognition to individuals or organizations who have rendered outstanding service to Scouting in urban and rural communities. This award is nominative in nature, the award seeks the individual, the individual does not seek the award. The following guidelines apply:

  • The award is to be presented to individuals of all levels of the organization (i.e. council executive board, district committee, commissioners, and unit personnel).
  • A quota restriction applies of one award per district. The quota is noncumulative over multiple years.
  • The council president designates a committee to administer the award. This may or may not be separate from the Silver Beaver committee.
  • At least 60 days must be allowed for review and approval by the Scoutreach division of the national council.
  • The award should be granted in a highly visible public event
