Venturing Advisor and Sea Scout Skipper Key

The training awards promote the importance of being a trained leader. The training award is open to all adults involved with Venturing (advisors, associate advisors, committee members) The advisor's key is available exclusively to crew advisors.


As requirements are fulfilled, the crew committee chairman will sign off on the application form, the form is then submitted to the district training committee who will then approve the award. Customarily, the award is presented at a roundtable, and may be represented at at crew function.


Each award features a certificate, medallion, and a cloth square knot. The training award uses knot No. 05008 and medallion No.00922, and the key uses knot No. 05006 and medallion No. 00924. The miniature Venturing device No. 00940 or Sea Scout device No. 00931 is worn with the knot and may be affixed to the ribbon portion of the medallion. Sea Scout Skippers have the option to receive the distinctive Skipper's key medallion in lieu of the traditional Scouter's Key award.
