Interpreter Strips

Venturers and advisors may be recognized with an interpreter strip by showing their knowledge of a foreign language or sign language by completing the requirements below. Multiple strips may be worn if multiple strips are earned. These awards symbolize the current ability to translate a foreign language. If you are no longer proficient in a language you are encouraged to remove the strip. Strips for over twenty languages are available from the supply division.

  • Carrying on a 5-minute conversation in this language.
  • Translating a 2-minute speech or address.
  • Writing a letter in the language (Does not apply for sign language)
  • Translating 200 words or more from the written word.
